Fur Jackets: Proper Methods of Storing

Fur jackets do not come at a less price that they should be taken care of properly so that stay for a longer time in tact and perfect. By doing so, not only the longevity of the fur jackets increases but also helps in preserving its worth. Proper storage helps them keep glossy and clean even they are used after a long time.

Fur jackets or coats should be hung inside a closet on wider hanger. The garments should have enough space so that they do not crush with each other. It is good to keep the fur jackets away from sunlight as it could oxidize the sleeves or even the whole jacket that is exposed. This method can be adopted during winter season.

During summer or warm season, the fur jackets should be stored in an even more professional manner. Sometimes a cooler basement or even an air conditioned storage space might not offer enough protection from drying of the leather or moth damage. It should be kept in mind that when the leather dries, it might result in cracks and excessive shedding of the fine fur.

Instead of a storage room of a dry cleaner it is good to store them in a fur vault. The vault should be in the temperature range between forty five to fifty degrees Fahrenheit and should have nearly fifty percent humidity level with enough air circulation.

Before storing fur jackets for a longer time they have to be cleaned properly as there are great possibilities of dust particles getting settled over the leather garment making them crack and dry.
