Fur clothing is clothing made entirely of, or partially of, the fur of animals. Fur is one of the oldest forms of clothing, thought widely used as hominids first expanded outside of Africa. Some view fur as luxurious; others reject it due to animal welfare and ethical concerns. The term ‘a fur’ is often used to refer to a coat, wrap, or shawl made from the fur of animals.

Fur is generally thought to have been among the first materials used for clothing and bodily decoration. The exact date when fur was first used in clothing is debated. It is known that several species of hominoids including Homo sapiens and Homo neanderthalensis used fur clothing.

Fur or skin clothing of some form is worn in virtually every country. Furs are especially popular in colder countries due to their excellent properties of insulation. The Inuit peoples of the Arctic relied on fur for most of their clothing, and it also forms a part of traditional Russian, Scandinavian and Japanese clothing.

Animal furs used in garments and trim may be dyed bright colors or with patterns, often to mimic exotic animal pelts: alternatively they may be left their original pattern and color. Fur may be shorn down to imitate the feel of a soft velvet fabric, creating a fabric called shearling.

Common animal sources for fur clothing and fur trimmed accessories include fox, rabbit, mink, beaver, stoat (ermine), otter, sable, seals, cats, dogs, coyotes, and chinchilla. Some of these are more highly prized than others, and there are many grades and colors.

The manufacturing of fur clothing involves obtaining animal pelts where the hair is left on the animal’s processed skin. In contrast, leather made from any animal hide involves removing the fur from the skin and using only the tanned skin. The use of wool involves shearing the animal’s hair from the living animal, so that the wool can be regrown. Fake fur or “faux fur” designates any synthetic material, produced from oil, that attempts to mimic the appearance and feel of real fur.

The chemical treatment of fur to increase its felting quality is known as carroting, as the process tends to turn the tips of the fur a yellowish-red “carrot like” color.

A furrier is a person who makes, repairs, alters, cleans, or otherwise deals in furs of animals. Fur clothing is clothing made entirely of, or partially of, the fur of animals.

Anti-fur campaigns reached a peak in the 1980s and 1990s, with the participation of numerous celebrities.[1]

Animal rights advocates object to the trapping and killing of wildlife, and to the confinement and killing of animals on fur farms due to concerns about the animals’ welfare, suffering, and death in general.

Some animal welfare groups have disrupted fur fashion shows with protests while others sponsor anti-fur poster contests and fashion shows featuring faux furs or other alternatives to fur clothing. These groups sponsor “Compassionate Fashion Day” on the third Saturday of August to promote their anti-fur message. Other groups participate in “Fur Free Friday”, an event held annually on the Friday after Thanksgiving that occurs globally with the intent to bring the issue of fur to light through educational displays, protests and other methods of campaigning.

In Canada, a government survey[2] showed two thirds of Canadians supported the hunting of seals if the regulations under Canadian law are enforced. Three quarters of Canadians were not opposed to the seal hunt, after being informed of these regulations.

Products from all marine mammals, even from abundant populations and regulated hunts, such as the Canadian seal hunt, are banned in the United States.

Russian clothing features:

Russia is a vast nation and hence, the kind of clothing that one would notice in the dedicated stores of Moscow would naturally be quite different to that found in Siberia. Leather is a fetish in Russia. Lined with fur, the look has become synonymous with Russian clothing. In general, traditional Russian men like to flaunt leather a lot. In fact, till today, no matter what the time of the year is, a leather jacket is a cool thing to have! Russian women wear dresses or long skirts and blouses and love to flaunt high heels.

Color preferences in Russian clothing:

There is a distinct difference in the color and theme preference of the Russian men and women; while the men do not usually like flaunting bright colors in clothing, the women do. The men prefer sober, earthy tones and prefer to keep the look ‘calm’. Many Russians find black and white being very elegant. They pick dark colors mainly due to the amount of dust and mud around and this is a practical choice that runs down the generations. The Russians wear different colors on occasions too; however the colors they choose seem to tell of their lifestyle! There is no hiding the fact that the Russians work very hard and their down-to-earth demeanor is seen in their clothing too.

The colors often seen on Russian men and women tell of their occupation and lifestyle. The colors are from a different scale. The rest of the world is used to people wearing blue, red, yellow and even pink. However, when it comes to shocking and deep shades, only the Russians know how to flaunt them. And the beauty of these people lies in the fact that the shades of colors look different on them and even more natural! The normal fabrics they choose are also to compliment the climatic conditions. They use a lot of wool and linen and in the Russian ‘killer’ winter, furs are a reasonably natural choice.

Moscow fashion:

The fashion trends followed in the capital city of Moscow are quite close to those observed in Europe or New York. The winter clothing differs a bit, since the Russian winters are definitely a challenge. Russian fashion is distinctively different. There are a number of authentic and dedicated online and offline resources that make designer Russian clothing available. In fact, the easiest way to learn more about Russian clothing and purchase authentic apparel is just a click away! Most of the apparel found in other parts of the world, claiming to be Russian, is usually decorated with traditional Russian motifs.

Traditional Russian clothing:

There are a variety of styles to pick from in the way of Russian clothing. The Russian woman’s head-dress is called the kokoshnik. In the western world there are replicas of the original head gear available in an array of fine prints and colors. The fine linen rubashka or the shirts that Russian men wear can also be found at a number of dedicated department stores. The sarafan or the traditional dress of the Russian women is available at a number of outlets, with exclusive embroidery in brocade and silk. And last, but not the least, there is the special and most beautiful Russian shawl. There are tow famous varieties of Russian shawls – the Orenburg goat down shawls and the Pavlovo Posad (100% woolen) shawls.

Symbolism of Russian clothing:

Russian clothing is a show of the traditional folk art and the spirit of the culture of Russia. Traditional Russian clothing is designed to highlight the inner dignity and emotional restraint of every woman. The traditional Russian costumes are not only beautiful, but also very convenient, being specially created for work. The variety of colors used in the traditional costumes display ethnic diversity and it is interesting to note that the Russian word for “beautiful” comes from “krasny”, which is Russian for “red”!

It’s Friday night and time to hit the dance floor. And for the hardcore party animals, almost every night is a time to celebrate at the city’s hottest discotheques or pubs. Some people don’t need a reason to party and for others, life itself is a party in its own!

One of the most commonly faced questions by any regular partygoing gals has always been, “What do I wear?” A tricky question especially when you are on the run, from that very important business meeting to the brightly lit dance floor. One-way to tackle this would be to co-ordinate your work wardrobe in such a way, that it should enable you to transform a formal look into a party outfit within no time. Jazz up the skirt with a funky belt, put on some exotic danglers or pull on an elaborately designed shrug to break the monotony.

But for the party animals who do not believe in compromising with the look, here are a few tips to have a closet full of party outfits that can be mixed and matched to achieve different looks. Razzle and dazzle everybody with the options given below.

Exotic Club and Dance Wear options:

Halter dresses:
A basic black dress is obviously a must for any girl. Throw in a metal belt or a colored stole to break the monotony. But girls, there’s a whole lot of options apart from the sexy black dress. Flirty cocktail halter dresses will sure make you an instant hit amongst all the partygoers. It could be printed or plain, simple or detailed, the choice is yours. Throw your cares to the wind with an asymmetrical halter dress which can have slight frills at the edge. Crystals adorning the neckline and slits at the side for flashing your perfect legs can make you feel and look exotic anytime. It could be dressed up or down, be it a formal occasion or a casual get-together at the local pub. The shorter the dress the more legroom it has to offer for perfecting the pirouette with your partner.

Go elegant with a halter gown if you are not too confident when it comes to short dresses. Plunging necklines, embellishments, studs, metal buckles down the front, silver clasp detailing, sequins on the borders all go in creating a chic look for the partygoer. Key-hole design at the neck, work well with halters. Your halter could also have a corset style fashion on the front.

Skirts:
Worn short or long, the skirt will give you a feminine look and can transform any boring party into a rocking one. A denim skirt can be teamed with any top but if you want to move beyond plain denims, then go in for lycra. Micro minis in lycra can be found studded with rhinestones, diamonds, lace and even medallions for people who love to splurge on exotic club wear. Skirts can be pleated or in tiers, with jagged edges or even sporting chains. The idea is to stand apart from the crowd. Get adventurous and experiment with the colors, patterns and fabrics. Jazz it up with accessories and watch the heads turn. You can even go wild with animal prints.

Pants:
Forget your normal denim jeans as normal is boring. Turn your night out into an evening of adventure with some great ways to exotic club wear pants. Beaded crochet pants, wrap around pants, pants made of crepe or layered mesh pants are hot this season. The fashion vixen in you will feel complete when you don a pair of wide leg mesh pants, which also come in see through material and have some layers of mesh fabric flowing around them. If you wish to keep it minimal and yet be the center of attraction then go in for solid bright colors with regular cuts. Wear a super, sizzling, red hot-pant if you dare to go beyond the obvious. This really short number needs to be complimented with a great pair of high-heeled boots.

Catsuits:
Catsuits are full-bodied suits that range from the flashy to the exotic kind of club wear. These are available in a mind boggling variety like the steel metallic look to the animal prints with faux fur trims. Rhinestone studded catsuits are most preferred though one has also seen the rising demand for bizarre materials like fishnet catsuits or vinyl ones.

Club wear costumes:
You don’t really need to wait for an occasion to sport a specially designed costume at a party. Get a sensuous look in a sailor outfit. Wear striped bustier’s with striped leggings with a blue short, pleated skirt. Combine with a trendy white cap and you are ready to rock. Or showcase the rebel in you with a pirate costume. You needn’t really to get elaborate with this but a few different items combined can certainly do the trick. Wear a black corset over a 3 layered ruffled dress and combine with black boots and a pirate hat. Or go in for the cowgirls look with loads of brown, hats, high-heeled suede boots, checkered shirts and ultra tight denims.

Paris may be acknowledged as the home of the best fashion in the world, but the past two days of shows in the French capital have proved that it is British designers who currently dominate the city. Alexander McQueen, Vivienne Westwood, John Galliano, Phoebe Philo at Chloe, and Julien Macdonald at Givenchy all presented designs that affirmed why British talent is so widely sought.

At the blockbuster McQueen show on Saturday night, it was all about the wind. Previously at his shows the models have been sprayed with paint by robots, trapped in a padded cell with one-way mirrors, and have tried to control wolf-like dogs dragging them down the catwalk. This time the models battled gales, while still managing to pose for photographers. For this 33-year-old designer, the high level of concept that goes into each of his presentations is as important as the attention to detail in the clothes themselves.

Nomadic travellers are becoming quite a theme in Paris, and here McQueen matched Tibetan-inspired coats with A-line skirts filled out with knife-pleats underneath. It was a beautiful development of what is becoming the designer’s easily recognisable silhouette, which has brought McQueen international recognition since his label was acquired by Gucci Group in 2000.

The one low point of the show was the worrying amount of fur. Indeed fur has been the talking point of the weekend, with support growing for the protesters who continue to sabotage the shows. On Saturday, many in the audience were revolted by the treatment of activists from People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals. At Jean Paul Gaultier’s show, security guards threw real fur blankets over the protesters before they were pulled off the catwalk. The sympathy for the protesters could prove to be a turning point in the current popularity of fur, since in recent years anger at the use of animal skins has been widely replaced by apathy.

Meanwhile, yesterday in Paris Vivienne Westwood presented one of her strongest shows for years, made all the better for the lack of overtly historical references. What was left was just the beauty of her purposefully wayward vision. Best were the strapless dresses with large diamond-shaped panels at the back which pushed out the fabric and enhanced the shape of the body. At Chloe, Phoebe Philo showed some great daywear in a collection which had a harder edge than her recent work at the house, which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year.

In terms of profits, most important on the catwalk was the camera bag, which should prove to be a much-copied style.

Throughout his troubled time at Givenchy, Julien Macdonald has often changed the image he thinks the label should project. This time round, he has dropped the trashy mood of last season and gone for the Blade Runner look that Alexander McQueen followed during his time there. The collection worked in that the pieces were wearable and in line with emerging trends such as leather, herringbone and over-the-knee boots. But if women want to buy these styles, they would already be able to find them in most high street stores. And as for the bag that was covered in a whole fox pelt, head still attached, it was enough to turn you vegan for life.

Sunday mornings are the most difficult time of the week for a busy household that contains three kids and their menagerie. Two large canines, a fur ball coughing cat, and Spots the pet Lorikeet are difficult to wrangle so that they don’t muss up the carefully prepared triumvirate of children who must go before God, and, more importantly, the eyes of prying neighbors when the family enters the holy environs of First Baptist. The middle one is a five year old girl who thinks that kitty must always shed in her lap, and the two boys are always looking for a mud hole to christen their brand new Sunday best. The pungent slobber of a friendly dog is not the best way to wash wool clothing. After the herd, the children not the animals, is strapped into the car and the delicate fabric wash advertisement for the actual best way to wash wool clothing is carefully clipped from the newspaper, everybody heads to worship in the family sedan.

At home again after an inspired message, the oldest one spills pot roast drippings in his lap. The kid is rolled out of his pants quickly, and given a lecture about always forgetting to change directly after church. The best way to wash wool clothing is not to douse said cloth with brown gravy from an overdone piece of meat either. The delicate fabric wash company may have the solution, as they say, but since that particular answer to this present crisis is on the way, and not in attendance, the wife must do her best with generic laundry detergent. Tempers always seem to wear thin on Sunday just when they should be the calmest.

The delicate fabric wash company seems to care about the situation to the extent that our worries will be concluded when the new fabric cleaner arrives. This pair of pants may be ruined because stale, cheap detergent is also not the best way to wash wool clothing. It is a shame that you find all the best ways NOT to do something before you find the best way to do it; trial and error can be hard on a small household budget. Why didn’t the delicate fabric wash solution reach us before another pair of Sunday trousers had to be purchased? I guess someone has to be the fall guy, but why am I (the poor, to be pitied husband) to blame for the whole mess all of a sudden?

Have you ever been interested in where leather originated from and how it is processed? There are many things out there on leather history and the process of making leather. Leather goods served many purposes in ancient times and leather also serves many purposes in the day and time. There are also methods of processing leather, such as the method of tanning leather. Some things have changed in the processing of leather in today’s time then how it was processed in ancient times.

Ancient Times:

The earliest records date from the Paleolithic period on the use of leather. In ancient times leather was used for many things in peoples lives. Leather clothing served great proposes for harsh winters. Ancient times people would use the leather clothing to keep their bodies warm during these harsh winters. These people would use the leather as a source of clothing do to the weight and stability of the leather. The leather clothing was lighter and stronger then the fur clothing that the ancient people were accustoms to in their lives. This made leather very suitable to use for every day clothing use. The only draw back to using leather was the process of making it. Leather took a long time and skill to process the leather material.

Leather Uses:

There were many uses for leather in the ancient times and also in today’s time. Leather was being used as everyday clothing. Where in today’s time it is used as everyday clothing and also for fashion. Leather was used for body armor in the ancient times, for when the people would go off to war. They would use the leather material for weapons such as slings or bows. Leather material was used for boots and riding saddles back in the old west. It is still being used for this type of equipment in today’s day and age. The ancient people of history would use leather material for hunting accessories. Another use for leather material back in history was for paper. They would use the leather material a writing surface.

Leather Processing:

Leather processing has change over the years, but there are still some things that cannot be out done from back in history. Back in history they would first immerse the raw hides and skins in a fermenting solution. This fermenting solution would have bacteria growing in the solution. This bacteria would attack the hides or skin. This attack on the hides or skin by the bacteria would result in the loosening of the on the hides or skin. The hair was then scraped off to get a clean hair free hide or skin. The raw stack then would be dusted with ground up bark that they had made. Then the raw stack would be placed into shallow pits of tannin solution. Then leather was then hung up for several days in open sheds. Then next came the dressing of the leather that was in process. This involved the people paring or shaving the raw leather material to a desired level of thickness. Then the processing of coloring the leather material took placket. Then the people would go through the process of treating the leather material. The leather material would be treated with oils. Then the leather material would have to get one more drying and final treatment for the grain surface with waxes.

We could keep going on about the fascinating history of leather and were it came from. The people in the past set up a legacy of leather use even for us today. When we go out riding we ware leather clothing. We are still using leather in horse riding and other western events. We have even adapted the leather use into are cars of today. So the use of leather in today’s age still has not died out. We have just found more uses for leather in are every day life.

Now that you have decided to finally make the decision to own your first modern kilt, there are many factors to consider. What type of fabric should you choose? What should I look for in fabrics, and how can fabrics affect how the kilt looks and feels after a few washes? Do you want the modern convenience of pockets or would you rather use the more traditional sporran? What kinds of accessories will you need? And most importantly, how much should you spend on your first purchase? Let’s address these questions one by one.

There are a lot of fabric choices, but I’ll try to cover the most important options. Cotton is a very comfortable choice. It breathes well but does have a tendency to wrinkle at the first opportunity. Polyester wears well and doesn’t wrinkle easily, but it does not breathe as well as cotton and may become uncomfortable in warmer weather. Poly-cotton blends are the best of both worlds; it breathes well and holds a good crease, while resisting wrinkling. Leather kilts are great but can be a very warm and special care must be taken when cleaning and oiling the leather. Poly-viscose kilts are machine washable and have a wool feel to them and can come in many different tartans, but unfortunately they do not hold up well to time and the fabric tends to stretch and distort with wear. So there are many options when it comes to fabric choice and it always boils down to personal preference.

After choosing your fabric of choice the next option you will want to consider is whether you want pockets or a sporran. This is where most people would define how modern or traditional a kilt is. If you want a more traditional look the sporran might be exactly what you want. There are many kinds; leather, fur, or full animal mask, but the latter two are usually worn with traditional kilt outfits. For everyday wear, you are more than likely going to want a “day sporran” which is a basic leather sporran. The other option for modern kilt wearers is the addition of the modern pocket. Such options include side cargo pockets, front slash pockets, and rear wallet pockets. Pocket choice is based on what you’re comfortable with and what works best for your lifestyle. If you plan to wear your kilt in an office setting, slash pockets would be a good choice. If you plan on wearing your kilt to casual events some people prefer cargo pockets.

The most important thing you’ll want to consider when buying a modern kilt is how it’s constructed. It’s important to check to make sure your kilt vendor has sewn down the pleats, both inside and out. This increases the ease when pressing or steaming a kilt to remove wrinkles.

The size of the belt loops is also important. The normal kilt belt can range from two to three inches wide, and you’ll want to make sure the loops can accommodate your belt. There are many styles of pleats to consider. Box pleats, kingussie pleats, reverse pleats, and traditional pleats are some of the choices. Each has pros and cons and there are great manufacturers who make each kind. More information on pleating options can easily be found on wikipedia.

So there are many options to consider when searching for your first modern kilt and there is a wealth of information available on many forums and websites. A kilt can cost from fifty to six hundred dollars, so make sure you are an informed consumer because there is nothing worse than spending hard earned money on something that ends up not meeting your expectations. My advice for a novice kilt shopper is to make of list of the options you want and then contact several modern kilt companies to get information about what they offer.

Sure, dog clothing is chic, but it can also keep your pet safe and warm. Protecting your Pom from the elements is important, but stylish Pomeranian clothes can also help him look cool. Dressing your Pomeranian in practical but stylish attire can be fun as well as practical.

Small dogs like Pomeranians can be very sensitive to the cold and putting on a sweater or coat can help protect them from drastic temperatures. Just because your Pom has a lot of hair doesn’t mean that he can’t get cold on a harsh winter day. Putting your Pom in a sweater can help him feel less of the cold. If you are taking your Pom for a long walk, you might consider a thick coat, but a quick trip out to do his business may only require a sweater.

When it comes to Pomeranian clothing, there is something for everyone. Everything from party clothes, to tuxedos, to raincoats to boots can be found. You can get party clothes, something pink and glittery perhaps if your Pomeranian is a girl, or a groovy rock sweater if he is a boy. Many dogs don’t mind being dressed up and appreciate the extra protection. You want to go slowly the first time you put a piece of clothing on our Pomeranian as they will not be used to it, but after a fashion it won’t bother them at all. Always check the clothing to make sure there are no loose pieces he could chew off or that could get wrapped around a leg or his neck. Sometimes simplier is best.

Pomeranian clothes have style as well as safety features. For coats look for a reflective strip which can help make walks more safe. Dog booties can stop your dog stepping on anything sharp and damaging his paws (and of course stop him walking mud into your house!) You can get rain slickers for dogs too, and hats to protect them from the fierce rays of the sun. If your Pomeranian like to romp in the woods, a coat will also help keep burrs off his fur and save you the trouble of having to try to get them out.. Nylon coats are great for keeping your dog dry, but you want to also get one that has a fleece lining to keep your pet snug.

When choosing clothing, make sure it fits your dog well and that he will be able to take care of his business in them. Try buying clothes that are designed especially for Pomeranians for the best fit.

Finding Pomeranian clothes that suit your dogs needs should be easy as there is a large variety available both on and offline..
